On leaving Lisieux in the direction of Caen, the German military cemetery of Saint-Désir is a place of memory and emotion. In total, 3,735 German soldiers who fell during the Battle of Normandy are resting in this cemetery.
Right next to the German cemetery is also a British military cemetery with 598 graves. These two cemeteries are located right next to each other and are linked by an alley called "Allée de la Paix".
