Over the centuries, history has left its mark on the life of a city. Lisieux, an ancient episcopal city, has been home to many bishops who, even if they didn't live in the city full-time, contributed through their actions to the renown of France or to local development: Hugues d'Eu, Jourdain du Homet, Nicolas Oresme, Thomas Basin and others.
