Description
Saint-Aubin Church, 14270 Ouézy: meet in the car park by the Town Hall
The priory church was built in the 12th century on a former rural estate belonging to Jumièges Abbey. A distinctive feature of the priory of Ouézy was
that it cultivated vines and supplied sacramental wine to the abbey, its dependencies and its numerous estates in England. The exterior features rich sculpted decoration. A bas-relief depicting a sleeping figure can be seen on
the tympanum of the south door. 17th-century woodwork and altarpiece.
Also on the afternoon’s programme is a walk through the village, which will allow you to discover the landscapes that the painter Jules-Louis Rame (a local, 1857–1927) loved and depicted. Information boards placed along the route in and around Ouézy display and describe the paintings that were created at these specific locations.
The tours end at the priory, where a complimentary drink will be offered by the Ouézy Laizon Environment Association.
