Du pré à l'œuvre - Exposition au musée de Lisieux

38 Boulevard Pasteur, 14100 Lisieux

Description

Due to the heatwave, opening hours have changed: Orange alert: open from 8am to 2pm Red alert: open from 8am to 12 noon Thank you for your understanding, and please take care in this heatwave! An indispensable animal, the cow embodies the very essence of our countryside. She roams the pastures, symbolises the regions, and is the peaceful provider. We see them in real life as well as in the works of painters, who have skilfully incorporated them into their scenes, even glorifying them for the beauty of their coats. This exhibition invites you to discover the history of how the cow has been depicted over time, its symbolic roles, and its gradual emergence in large-scale works. From mythology to animal husbandry, from rural scenes to historical animal paintings, the Lisieux Museum of Art and History invites you to discover the beauty of animals, with your feet in the grass.
