The sound of medieval Armenia reinvented for the 21st century
The musical project was born of a meeting, in Yerevan, between soprano Hasmik Baghdasaryan, pianist-composer John Hodian and, across the centuries, Armenian poet Mkrtich Naghash. On the program: songs of exile and songs of wisdom, with the emotion of today and the promise of tomorrow. Enlivened by traditional instruments and the dancing fervor of their voices, their music immediately touches the heart and body of those who hear it. Wherever you come from and whoever you are, you don?t need to know the figures of a thousand-year-old culture to be immediately seduced, then permanently enchanted, by the spiritual groove, the hypnotic rhythms, the lyricism at the heart of the skin.
