Three works on the program and three wars. In his Trio (1914), Ravel - whose birth is being celebrated 150 years ago - masks the problem behind the mechanics of the heart and references to old-time dances. Shostakovich's Trio no. 2 (1944), on the other hand, masks neither desolation nor savagery. And Lili Boulanger leads an intimate war against exhaustion and illness with D?un soir triste, d?un matin de printemps (1917).

But there's nothing morbid about the performance by the Trio Hélios...
