Description
Is "Italian opera" a pleonasm? It was born there in the 17th century, blossomed in the 18th century in the boxes of the "Italian-style" theatres, and between the gold of the music and the red velvet of the language, in the 19th century it took on all sorts of finery: the virtuoso greed of Rossini, the abundant romanticism of Donizetti, the heart-rending drama of Verdi. Conducted by Tanguy de Williencourt - you know him as a pianist, we invited him in 2023 - the Ensemble de l'Opéra Normandie Rouen welcomes a young artist with luminous promise: Manon Lamaison, with her opalescent soprano voice, is radiant with lightness and overwhelming with emotion in each of the arias on this brilliant and seductive programme.
